GFW Day 2

My uni is exhibiting at Graduate fashion week this year and I’ve really enjoyed having a BRIEF look around in the time I’ve been there so far. Why brief you ask? Well, today I went to DeMontford’s contour show which showed lingerie and swimwear from this years graduating students. Here are some images from the show.

Why hello there!

It’s been a big old gap this time –  MONTHS since my last post! I’ve been having serious blog withdrawal and am so ready to get back in the design mischief saddle. I haven’t been absent, however, without good reason. Last Friday was my final deadline at Uni, so I’ve been working like a maniac to finish my collection, sketchbooks and portfolio. The below are some research from my graduate collection entitled ‘Nebula’ for Autumn Winter 2014. To see more, my new and improved website http://www.bryonyweston.com and click the link for my full portfolio .

Speed Stars

ZJ logo racingSince leaving Zoë Jordan last September, I am excited to see their latest presentation at LFW. Calling on Zoë’s formula 1 heritage, the Autumn/Winter 2014 collection entitled ‘Chicane’ offers a fresh spin on sports-luxe. Fur trims, sleek visors and leather panelling give an ultra-cool take on contemporary tailoring and embroidery emblazoned pull-overs.

Top of the Knots (-I’m so sorry)

top knot for blogThe topknot, or, last minute saviour for unwashed hair is one of my preferred looks for long days. The following are why i LOVE this look.

1. It takes seconds to achieve
2. Unwashed hair is easily disguised
3. All your hair is out if your face
4. If you can’t find a hair band, this updo can be created using pencils, thin rulers, a stick etc!
5. Great for travelling and exercising due to its sturdy nature
6. Gives a look of ‘I mean business’
7. Gets hot hair of your neck in warm weather/ stuffy room
8. Can be dressed up with braids or clips
9. Works for casual and smart looks
10. If you ‘topknot’ wet hair – you will get mermaidesque results when dry and released.

The boys are back in town

After a long immersion into the final year of study and development of my graduate collection, I am giving in to my blog-cravings and using this post as a brief update but also to launch my website www.bryonyweston.com It’s a working process at the minute so be gentle with me! But, in time, will have images of my collect, extracts from my dissertation and imagery from recent styling jobs. In the meantime, The following is a sneak peek at the first piece made for my graduate fashion collection.

What I’ve been up to….

Hello! And huge apologies for my silence over the last few weeks, I am back at uni and studying like crazy. I thought I would share some of my latest moodboards for the penultimate project before designing my graduate collection. This is a kind of pre-collection so the concept and overall mood will continue to my final pieces. The concept is retro-futuristic sports-luze which continues from some projects I did last year. I am referencing architectural curves and will play around with layering and pleats to create structural designs.

Dissertation: The exploitation of underage models

As well as doing a collection for my degree work, we also write a dissertation. My interest in exposing this sparsely known and never discussed issue began with seeing the documentary below. It’s definately worth a watch and is truly shocking. Particularly worth watching if you have children, I would imagine.
