I’m having a break from interning and uni work to re-fuel and re-charge at home before fashion week. Having been away for so long I am excited to be surrounded by our things, our friends and being lulled to sleep by the snuffles and snores of our dog. It’s funny how being surrounded by someone elses’s taste in our rented London flat can make you want to get your hands on your own things and really make the most of what you have. So, spurred on by Pinterest and a home-sick nesting instinct, I’ve been both intensively organizing and making hand finished touches to our gorgeous Norwich home. My Midas touch has been given groping rights, seeing the legs of my dressing table dipped in gold, as well as gilding mugs with a sharpie and creating a dog toy trunk (now to train her to put her stuff back in there). As well as a general de-clutter and HUGE donation to the British Heart Foundation ( who can do home pick up) I have turned the awkward spare bedroom-office-storage room into a clean studio ready for final year featuring a £6.50 clothes rail from Ikea – what a barg! For now, here is a super quick and potentially free way to update your mugs, plates, jars, lanterns etc, even adding a metallic rim to a mug or highlighting an existing pattern can take blah to blah-dy beautiful. I think these would make a great gift. The pic below is my mis-matching set.
Step 1. Draw design. This will wipe off if you make a mistake
Step 2. Bake in the oven at 170 degrees C for 35 mins to make permanent.
And to share with you the sound track to my life, here is my beautiful sleepy dog, Muffin doing what she does best….
